OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (AP) — Police in north Mississippi shot and killed a person Monday while serving an arrest warrant, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
Officers with the Olive Branch SWAT Team fired shots after the person receiving the warrant “presented a weapon” toward them, the department said in a statement. It said no officer was wounded.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, which is part of the department, was notified of the fatal shooting at about 9:50 a.m. Monday.
MBI is investigating, as it does with most shootings involving police officers. It will present findings to the state attorney general’s office.
